Experimental dining at FG Food Labs
At the Hofbogen you find the restaurant FG Food Labs, one of three restaurants of master chef François Geurds in Rotterdam. The restaurant has an industrial look but also has an intimate feel to it with an open kitchen where you see the hard-working chefs doing their magic. And the name of the restaurant, which is by the way crowned with a Michelin star, says it all: experiments on ingredients, flavors and preparation are being done here.

Visitors of FG Food Labs are treated very well with the delicious amuses and side dishes. And the way the chefs prepare the food can truly be called surprising! During our visit we got a mortar which we used to mill the herbs that were frozen using liquid nitrogen. After that a scoop of yoghurt ice was added and for the best taste we kept going back and forth between a bite of the ice cream and the warm sweet potato creme with mushrooms.
Besides the surprising tastes and special preparations the food was delicious. Every course was accompanied by a nice, suiting wine. Before you know it you’re having a great and fun night and you don’t know where the time went!
