Grill Restaurant Holy Smoke In Rotterdam
Just a 5 minute walk from Rotterdam Central Station you can find a great new hidden gem, grill restaurant Holy Smoke. Located in a large corner building on the Tiendplein, which also happens to be on the corner of the popular and busy Westkruiskade.
Holy Smoke is ran by the men that are behind the café De Zondebok & ‘t Zwarte Schaap, restaurant Hamburg and King Kong Hostel on the popular Witte the Withstraat. And to be honest, Holy Smoke fits in that list really well. The name of the restaurant is a reference to one of the destinations of the tram that stops in front of the restaurant and the former cigar shop that was in the same building as Holy Smoke is in.
Inside Holy Smoke
In the front of the restaurant there is a large terrace where you can seat yourself on one of the 200 spots and inside there are plenty of tables as well. The interior is cool and modern and if you like one of the tables make sure to arrive early or you’ll have to wait at the bar for a little while because there are no reservations. Doors open at 10:30 hours and you can get pork ribs or a steak sandwich for lunch. However, you can also order anything else from the menu as there is no distinction made between lunch and dinner. And talking about that menu: it looks great!
You can choose from a wide range of grilled meat and the great option to make it Surf & Turf (an extra half of lobster). During my visit I tried the ribs and pork belly and made it Surf & Turf, because who doesn’t like half a lobster for 12 euro?! The menu consists mainly out of meat and fish, however for vegetarians there’s Portobello and Thai Tofu as well. The menu also offers plenty of side dishes to choose from like fries, mixed salad and grilled vegetables among others.
Although Holy Smoke is not located in the middle of the city center it is definitely worth a visit!
